First things first, winner of the Delight Magazine giveaway is Barbara! Congrats! I will be emailing you today to get all the necessary info. (Winner chosen using random.org).
I haven’t done an WIAW post that has actually included a day of eats for me – so that’s what I’m doing today. I’m going to keep it simple and simply show you a day’s worth of meals – as always, apologies for the fluorescent lighting and iPhone camera.

8:00am: post-crossfit protein shake: 1/4 cup canned pumpkin, 1 scoop Sunwarriror protein, 1 cup unsweetened almond milk + so.much. cinnamon. (no picture – I forgot about it until it was gone and an empty Blender bottle just isn’t that photogenic).
9:30-10am: 2 hard-boiled eggs, 1/2 cup fresh blueberries (I’ve got a serious blueberry obsession right now) + 1/4 cup pomegranate + 1 heaping Tbsp. of homemade almond butter

12:30: kale + green beans + walnuts + deli turkey meat topped with fresh homemade salsa
3:30: 3 egg whites + coconut oil + small local apple in an empty almond butter jar
7:00: baked cod (cod coated with almond meal) + roasted brussel sprouts. This is definitely a new household staple.
Baked Cod:
cod
almond meal + salt + pepper + dried thyme (mix in a shallow bowl)
dredge cod through mixture and bake for 20 minutes at 425F on a lined baking sheet.

7:45: 1 scoop Sunwarrior protein + unsweetened almond milk + 2 Tbsp. cocoa powder + flaked unsweetened coconut (I usually don’t eat after dinner but was really hungry so I listened to my body)
Overall, my eats haven’t changed too much but I have been focusing on listening to my body – I’ve been craving more fats and a slightly higher caloric intake than what I’m used to eating. I was a bit concerned about it at first but since I seem to be leaning out a bit (hey, muscle definition!), I’m going with it.
I won’t lie and say that part of my brain isn’t freaking out – I logically know that listening to my body is the best way to go but that little doubt seems to creep in every so often. Luckily, that doubtful part is small and shrinking every day.
Anyone else feel scared/doubtful of themselves when they change up their diet?

I’m the same way…I’m trying to listen to my body, but sometimes my brain gets in the way by saying “You have to eat!” even when I’m not hungry. It’s hard to make that adjustment, but we have to train ourselves to do so. We’re in this together!
Mine brain usually says “you don’t need to eat!” when my muscles and body are saying the opposite! We got this
Empty blender bottles make me sad
haha
I’m really bad at listening to my body. I’m pretty sure it just says it wants chocolate all the time
But I HAVE gotten better at being able to tell when I’m actually hungry!
My body always wants chocolate and almond butter – preferably together
The first part of your day looks pretty similar to mine, lol! Sometimes its hard to listen to your body when it goes against everything you thought you knew about nutrition!
So true. I’m lucky that my nutritionist & sports med doctor that I’ve worked with for years encourage me to eat in a high fat/mod protein/low carb way. It’s still tough to set aside all the info out there though.
I love your meals! I think you and I eat pretty similar so it is great to get some meal ideas! I know that making nutrition changes are really hard but you seem to be doing a great job with it!
Thanks! I love getting meal ideas from everyone – a big part of why I love What I Ate Wednesdays!
I have cod in my freezer right now and was wondering what the heck to do with it. Problem solved! As you saw in the thread, I’m trying out Paleo next week so reading your meal plan is helpful! Yes, I am nervous about it!
Nice! I think being prepared is key, especially for a paleo-esque diet.
Your eats look tasty, especially that baked cod!
Thank you!
Those brussel sprouts look awesome! Haven’t had any in awhile.
Brussels sprouts are one of my favorites!
Good call on listening to your body. It can be hard, but it’s important. It’s weird when you listen because it really will tell you what you need, especially if it’s just a good old fashioned nap. I went on a cheese and spinach bender a couple weeks ago and I think I just needed calcium.
When I’m low on something, I get crazy cravings too. Our bodies really are much smarter than we give them credit for.
Definitely keep on listening to your body! This looks like a great balanced day of eats =)
Thanks Sable!
